The CG01 table lamp by Wever & Ducré is a reissue of an iconic 1968 design by Belgian interior architect and designer Christophe Gevers. Originally designed for the Brussels brasserie Le Cap d’Argent, the lamp has now been reissued by Wever & Ducré.
Christophe Gevers (1928–2007) is an important name in 20th-century Belgian design. As an interior architect, furniture and lighting designer, he was known for his functional designs, clean lines and particular attention to materials and details.
The CG01 is a perfect example of his approach. Its simple geometric shape, metal construction and bold colours give this table lamp an almost sculptural appearance. Although designed in 1968, it still feels remarkably contemporary today.
The concealed light source creates a pleasant indirect light. Use the CG01 as an atmospheric table lamp on a cabinet or sideboard, next to a TV, or as a distinctive desk lamp on a desk or worktable. Even when switched off, it remains a beautiful design object in the interior.
This is not a new lamp with a retro look, but an authentic Belgian design from the 1960s, now reissued by Wever & Ducré.
